Fast-Paced Sequel

Charlie's Angels II- Full Throttle stars Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu, Cyia Batten and John Cleese. It is a fast-paced sequel to a fast-paced first movie, called simply Charlie's Angels, which came out a few years ago. If it is possible, the sequel has even more explosions and action than the first, but rather less plot.

This time the Angels have been hired to retrieve a pair of rings which contain information about the new identities of everyone in the witness protection program. Never mind what a bad idea the rings are in the first place, as the fact that they've been lost to begin with so clearly shows. After retreaving the rings and giving them back, the Angels learn that they have been had, and the rings are now up for auction to the highest bidder. As people in the witness protection program start turning up dead, the Angels notice a pattern in the choice of targets which forces Dylan to reveal a secret about her past.

The somewhat fragmentary story-line sometimes feels like it's only there to give marginally believable reasons for blowing up the greatest possible number of things in the shortest length of time. Between the matrix-esk fight scenes- including one on motorbikes- and the flying car, one gets the impression that the laws of gravity don't really apply to the Angels. Not to say that like it's a bad thing. The movie offers about what you would expect- lots of explosions without a complicated plot to get in the way. A fun summer movie, if you're in the mood for a mindless action flick, but don't bother if you're actually going to try and figure out what's happening- it it's not worth the effort.
